World leaders have started to jet home from COP26 after two days of negotiations at the climate summit held in Glasgow.

The President of the United States Joe Biden departed on Tuesday night at around 10.20pm after jetting away from Edinburgh Airport.

The American leader boarded the presidential plane Air Force One after arriving in Scotland on Monday, November 1.

More than 100 world leaders gathered for COP26 for the two-day event, which included statements on the need to tackle climate change from various heads of state.

They have now started to depart Scotland after the World Leaders' Summit came to a close yesterday, leaving the complex negotiations to their representatives, mainly environment ministers or similarly senior officials.

The talks are scheduled to end at 6pm on 12 November, but past experience suggests they are likely to extend into Saturday and perhaps even to Sunday.

Many will be heading home in private jets after more than 400 private jets carrying world leaders and business executives were expected to have arrived in Scotland this week.

The French Cotam 001, Canadian Air Force VIP, German Konrad Adenauer, Japanese Air Force One, Air India One and Israeli Wing of Zion are just a few of the others that could be arriving at the summit.

It comes as Joe Biden's Air Force One touched down in Scotland tonight – one of two aircraft the US President's entourage uses to travel around the world.

His impressive motorcade caused quite a stir amongst Scots who witnessed the convoy travelling between the two cities on the M8.

He stayed at the Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club on the outskirts of the capital where additional security measures - including snipers - were put in place.

The leader's visit was made more notable after he was reportedly flashed by a "large, naked Scottish man" as he travelled to the second day of the COP26 conference.

The president and his staff were apparently photographed by the unnamed nude man, who stood in the front window of a house as the convoy passed.

The White House reporters' pool said: "At one point when we were still on smaller country roads, a large, naked Scottish man stood at his front window taking a picture of the motorcade with his phone."
